How to Work With Models Workshop - Advanced Intensive
We are so excited to be bringing in Kaitlin Chapple for a brand new style of workshop. Kaitlin is a multi-talented published model, as well as the author of a new e-book called How to Work With Models: A Model’s Guide for Photographers. With over a decade of industry experience, Kaitlin created an in-depth guidebook that teaches photographers everything they need to know about working with models. It provides the important perspective of a person on the other side of the camera, and offers expert advice on how to make a professional model-photographer relationship result in the best work possible.
THIS ADVANCED DAY WILL ALLOW FOR MORE DISCUSSION WITH AN HOUR OF SHOOTING TIME IN THE MORNING, A PIZZA LUNCH AND 3 HRS OF SHOOTING IN THE AFTERNOON.
Following the recent launch of her e-book, Kaitlin is excited to bring her knowledge to a workshop format and will be hosting the first How to Work With Models Workshop in collaboration with The Production Studio. This three hour workshop will be incredibly helpful for any photographer who wants to feel more comfortable and capable working with models. Wherever you are in your photography journey, and no matter your level of technical skill, this session will help you elevate your work and improve as an artist.
The first half of this workshop will be a discussion based Q+A. Please come with all of your questions about working with models! How to find reliable freelance models, how to contact agencies, how to hire a model, what is agency standard for rates and compensation, how to set expectations for a project, what are best practices for pre-shoot communication, how to direct and pose a model, how to communicate effectively, how to offer constructive feedback, what is proper on-set etiquette, how to make a model comfortable, how to shoot a model nude, how to provide a professional environment, how to follow up after a project, what is customary for image usage, etc. Any and all questions are welcome. Kaitlin has a ton of professional experience to draw from and will open up about any topic you want.
The second half of this workshop will be a hands-on shoot, implementing everything that was discussed in the Q+A. This is your opportunity to practice directing, posing, and communicating with a model, with Kaitlin offering you personal suggestions to help you improve. We will cycle through as many looks as possible, and all participants will get some portfolio images along with individual guidance and constructive feedback to help you improve. You will walk away from this session empowered with information, ready to reach the next level in this industry.
Included in the cost of this workshop, is a copy of Kaitlin’s e-book How to Work With Models: A Model’s Guide for Photographers. The comprehensive guide outlines the entire creative process including before, during, and after a shoot, and will equip any photographer with all the tools they need to feel confident working with models. With homework lessons, additional resources, and plenty of actionable tips, this guide is an invaluable source of information for any photographer.
